Loschicles.com: Discount Cards for Studentens

The Carnet Jove is a card for young people between the age of 14 and 25 and it has over 5.000 discounts and benefits on offer. The discounts apply to different services, particularly culture, sports and spare time activities; you can get discounts at tourism facilities and accommodation businesses. This card is valid in Spain and in more than 30 other European countries, which are connected to the “Euro < 26” programme.

Carnet +25

This card is designed for young people between 26 and 29 and it offers 2.000 different benefits from various sectors like arts and culture, tourism, leisure time, sports, education, cars, information technology, etc.
You can also get your Carnet +25 in the form of a credit card (Visa Electron, Visa Estrella or Visa Classic). You will find more information in Catalan at: http://www.tujuca.com/frameset_carnet_intro.htm; you have to klick "info" at the bottom of this site.
Unfortunately there is no information on this card in English or Spanish; if you are interested but are not able to read the information in Catalan, it is a good idea to contact the CAIXA (bank) or one of the offices mentioned below.

Application

You can apply for these cards in any branch office of the bank “la Caixa”, showing your ID. Three to four days later you receive your card and you have to pay a fee of 6 € per year. If you want to apply for a provisional Carnet, which is valid for 30 days within Catalonia, you can do so at following offices:

The Carnets are valid from January 1 until December 31; they are always valid only until December 31, also if they have been issued during the year.

BCN-Nightlife.com Card

The BCN-Nightlife Card is a discount card used in many bars and clubs in Barcelona. You can get different kinds of discounts, ranging from VIP entrance and reduced entrance fees to free drinks. The tickets costs 5 € and is valid for a month.

You can get it in the BCN-Nightlife.com office in Calle Balmes 34 in Barcelona.
Opening hours: Monday – Friday: 12.00 – 21.00
Saturday: 12.00 – 14.00

It is valid in follwing clubs and bars:

ISIC-Card

The International Student Identity Card – short ISIC – is the only student ID, which is accepted worldwide. You can get discounts in more than 110 countries around the world.

The card costs € 10.00 and is valid for 16 months (from September until December of the following year). You can get it in student travel agencies, at student councils and offices. You need following documents in order to apply for the ISIC card:

a current document about your enrolment at university / student ID
passport/ ID
passport picture

Barcelona Card

You are allowed to use all means of public transportation unrestricted with the Barcelona card; besides you are guaranteed 100 discounts and free entrances for museums, leisure facilities, clubs, shops, restaurants and events. It is possible to buy a ticket for 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 days and it costs 17 € per person / per day and 30 € for 5 days.

In my opinion the Barcelona Card is only profitable if you practice “hardcore sightseeing” in order to use all the discounts and free entrances. Students already get discounts on entrance fees of museums and it is not necessary to do all sightseeing in one or two days if you are a student in Barcelona, as you have plenty of time.

This initiative was founded by 6 of the most important arts centres in Barcelona. You can visit following 6 museums for 17 €: Museu Nacional d'Art de Catalunya (MNAC), Museu d'Art Contemporani de Barcelona (MACBA), Fundació Joan Miró, Fundació Antoni Tàpies, Centre de Cultura Contemporània de Barcelona (CCCB) und Centre Cultural Caixa de Catalunya, La Pedrera. All in all you pay around 27.50 € as a student visiting all museums. So you can save 10 € with this card and have also 3 months time to visit all the museums.
